Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
I am an unmarried mother with a 4 month old. Her father is on the birth certificate but has not had blood tests done to solidify proof of paternity, and she has my last name. We have not established child support or visitation rights thus far. I am her primary care giver. If i was to vacation out of the country would i need written permission from him saying i could take her also?

Unless there is an issue raised in court, one parent does not need to have the permission of the other to travel. That is as to state court family law. But, when one applies for the Passport of an infant and then attempts to take the child overseas, the federal government may require permission from the other parent for travel to certain coutries. When you go for the child's passport, you will likely learn whether aletter will be required in your specific case.
