Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Violating Custody

My ex-boyfriend and I have joint custody of our daughter. He is suppose to have her from Fridays at 7:00am to Sundays at 5:00pm. He always threatens me saying he is not going to bring her back and that I will never find them again. I havent had the police involved yet. But this time he said he is not going to bring her back because he didnt pick her up last weekend and she doesnt want to come home. So if I go up to where he lives and show the police the statement he wrote and signed, I signed, my mom signed, and the judge signed. Will they help me go get her?

Re: Violating Custody

If you have a signed custody order from the judge (this might be a part of a Separation Agreement and/or Divorce Decree, as well as a Custody Order), which shows the terms of the custody order, you should be able to have the police assist you in enforcing the order. I have heard of situations where the police are unwilling to get involved in such a dispute; however, given the proper documentation they should be able to assist you depending upon the jurisdiction in which you are located.
