Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri
My soon to be Ex Wife Has Moved out of the house and Has Forwarded all the Mail to her new address. This had taken place about 3 weeks ago.
She has countuined to tell me that she has not gotten any of my mail.
When asking my mail lady she had said sorry to me and told me that 2 - 3 day worth of my mail had gone to her new address.
My question is A lady friend had sent me a letter in the mail and she has read it b/c it had gone to her new Apt. and Now she is holding that above my head. And the Dead to my house has also gone to her new place.
I am upset at this one b/c Can anyone just put in a change of address for anyone with out the post office questing it because I only found out when i did not recive any mail for 5 day and it has not been 2 weeks and just starting to get my mail.
Do i have any ground to stand on here. One with the the wife and the other with the post office not verifying that I wanted my mail forward also.

Obviously, if you wife has opened your private mail, you may have cause o f action against her. As for the psot office, either one in a marriage may transfer the mail for themself and the couple. If you can prove that private mail was sent to eh new address (and your wife did not include your name in the transfer request) you at least have a claim to make within the USPS complain process. If your wife did inlcude your name in the transfer request, you may also be able to make a claim wihtin the USPS fraud unit. They may help you dtermine if any mail addressed only to you went to that new apt. They may also make the claim for return of that mail form you wife. It is a federal crime to open somone else's mail without permisison.
Good luck
