Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My wife is wanting to get divorced. She is to be getting a settlement from a company she worked for from injuries to her arms at work. The company has made a settlement offer to the attorney which I found out about. I believe that my wife has had the attorney hold the settlement until the divorce is final so that she would get the entire settlement. I informed her that I would be entitled to half of this settlement along with the rest of our assets. She tells me that I would not be entitled to half of this settlement according to an attorney that she has spoken to. Who is right?

The notiion that each divorcing spouse gets half of the assets is an over generalization. In your case, based upon the limited facts you provided, it wounds like both you and yoru spouse are correct. She will probably get the entiore settlement, and you will likely get other martial assets to account for the settlement she is to recieve.

Good luck
