How many years do you have to wait after the divorce is finalized to re-open the child custody issue?

You can file a Motion to Modify the existing terms of the Judgment any time when it would be in the best interest of the child or children. Some courts require you to plead and prove a substantial and continuing change in circumstances such that it would be int he best interests of the parties for the existing terms to be changed.
