Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri
in 2008 a independent tax service made a mistake on our taxes which resulted in us oweing the IRS 685.00 plus intrest for a total of 730.00 which was taken from our 2010 tax return. The mistake was 685.00 was put in as Fed witholding the 685.00 was actually social sec withholding. do we have any legal case to recover our lose and are we entitled to any other damages that this stressful mistake has caused us

You may be able to sue them, based upon the terms of your contract. But, you may have a short time left to do it. If they are owned or managed by a CPA, you may ge sble to bring more claims. If you aren't going the small claims route, you should consult directly with an attorney in your area. Perhaps you should anyway. They can look at your agreement with the preparer and explain your options.
