Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

Harrassment by neighbor

Our next door neighbor moved in about 3 years ago, and has become a bad neighbor. While doing some construction work, we had to park one of our cars in the street in front of his house (which is legal). He threatened to kill my husband unless he moved the car. We called the police, and filed a report for the incident. He started then verbally taunting us, and follows me on my way to work, driving aggressively. We have been ignoring his behavior, hoping that he will get tired, and stop. Lately, he has been taunting our 14 year old son, calling him ''faggot'' and ''pedophile'', and trying to get him to fight. Is there anything we can do to protect our son? I'm concerned for his safety, especially since he gets home from school before my husband or I are home from work.

Re: Harrassment by neighbor

You should get a civil order of protection for your son, and for yourself. You can do this by reporting the threats to a judge and asking him to issue an order which forbids the neighbor from coming within 500 feet of your family. You can do this by going to the court house and talking to a clerk. You do not need a lawyer to get an order of protection.

Good luck.
