Hurt on the job

My husband worked for a concrete company for 1 year after he got out of Army. While working, he hurt his back. He was laid off in January and now dr is telling him he has a slipped vertebre. Is the employer responsible for anything (like med bills) and if so, what do we do?

If your husband was injured on the job, then his sole remdy is to assert his rights under the Worker's Compensation law. He needs to consult with an attorney who practices in this field. The Workers Compensation Statute provides benefits and money to workers who are injured while working. This is a no fault statute. Thus, if your husband was injured at work, there should be benefits available to him and, most likely, there will be a settlement amount that he is entitled to. If he reported the injury to the employer when it happened, he should recover the three things that workers' compensation allows- medical bills, pay while he is off work with the injury, and a lump sum for the disability. I have more info on my website- farrislaw.net.
