Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

Im in Missouri, and my Bf and I are broken up and gonna leave the apt we have together. I have my key but he left his in the apartment. Now his family is saying that if i dont show up tomorrow with my key to let him in, i will be prosecuted!! how can that be true?!

It is unlikely that the police would arrest you, and even less likely that a prosecutor would pursue such a case. What they may be referring to is that your ex may file a civil suit for the value if his property.If you both left he apartment at the same time, and you no longer have your stuff in there, his beef is with the landlord. I that case, he should see the landlord about getting in for his stuff. If you or your stuff are still occupying any if the apartment, than you may have to let him in. But, it is to happen at a time that you both agree on. Neither can dictate to the other. If you are concerned about your safety, call the police ans ask that an officer be there while he removes his things.
