Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri
My son purchased an older dirt bike without a title. According to the seller the bike was never titled. My son contacted the DMV in Jefferson City, MO enquiring about getting a title. He was told he would have to petition for a declatory judgement in civil court. He was also told that the bike has never been titled (VIN # was given) Is this something he can do without an attorney? The value of the bike is less than $1000 and he doesn't really have the extra money to hire an attorney.
I'm guessing I should choose Civil Litigation Law below?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It may be possible to do a quiet title action Pro Se, but I would not reccomend it. The cost to have an attorney handle this, may be less than he fears. He should at least consult with an attorney in his area, to see what the adction would entail, and what it would cost to have the attorney handle the more technical portion of the action.
Good luck
