Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

can i sue robber civilly?

I own a small cellular phone repair refurbish retail business in missouri. about three months ago I was robbed. They took everything. The ''csi'' came and took 4 bags of evidence and then I didnt hear back from them. I immediately started looking for my property. about a week after the robbery my phones started showing up on craigslist and ebay. I made up a fake email address and made contact with the guy selling one of what I believed to be one of my phones. Sure enough the email came back. It was one of two men I had fired a month before on the suspision they were stealing. I set up an appointment to purchase the phone and sent one of my friends girlfriends to go buy the phone. she went, bought the phone, got him to sign a reciept and even put the serial number of the phone on the receipt. The serial number matched the number to the treo that I had in for repair. I took this info to the police and again NOTHING! I dont understand. Why didnt they go question them. Do something? i sat there in front of the computer land watched my livelyhood go. As they bought all kinds of stuff on ebay. I didnt have insurance on the phones. Im totally ruined. How can I get justice? please help me.

You went to the wrong police agency. You should contact the FBI. What these people did is wire fraud and mail fraud, and is the interstate transportation of stolen goods. You should contact your local FBI office and ask to speak with an agent.

Good luck,
