Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri
I am being sued for a civil matter (a little boy was injured in an accident). Since the accident happened there are 3 different woman who have claimed to be his legal guardian, calling me and demanding money. One of them got a lawyer, she originally told me she was his aunt, now she's saying she's his mother. Incidentally, I know she is not in the country legally (illegal alien), I don't know if the other 2 are here legally or not. I think the 3 women are his mother, an aunt (from maternal side of the family) and an aunt from the paternal side of the family. I don't want to settle with one of them only to find out later she didn't have legal standing as the boy's guardian. How does the court determine who is the boy's legal guardian? Can his mother (at least the one who now claims to be his mother) be his legal guardian if she's not legally here? I also suspect something screwy is going on with her because she gave me a completely different name when we talked, than is on the letter that I received from her lawyer (yet the boy's name is exactly the same). Please advise, thanks!

If you have car insurance your insurance company has to hire you an attorney. If not, meet with an experienced person injury defense attorney.
