Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri
Title on a mobile home
I purchased a mobile home and put a friend on the title. She stated that she would type up a promisary note for her half. That did not happen. I consulted an attorney and he stated that I could record her promise to pay if only the two of us were present. I did that. She has since moved off the property ( over 3 months now),and cannot be found, and has not paid any monies related to the property. When she left she stated that her half was a gift. Can I put a lein on the property for her half or has she abandoned the property? What should I do?

Re: Title on a mobile home
There may be several ways for you to address your problem. If there is no lienholder already (i.e. a lender) then your best option may be to bring an action to quiet the title to the mobile home. If you do have a loan owing on this property, the lender probably has a lien on the home. In that case, you may need to pursue other options to address your situation.
