Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri
My wife recently applied for the College of Nursing. Her application was denied because of prior "convictions". When she called and asked about those convictions she was given a list of things she had never done. She contacted the Missouri Highway Patrol and it was found that these convictions were not hers but were wrongly attached to her record since 2006. She has applied for many jobs within the medical field as we as other interest in the past 5 years and always had trouble getting call backs from employers after they did her background check. She was always more than qualified for the jobs. Is there any legal recourse for this?

Your wife needs to get her record cleared. Until you find out why the wrong information was listed for her, you will not know if any individual is liable to her. If this is a case of somone assuming her identity when arrested, then that imposter may be liable. If it is just a clerical error within law enforcement, your wife may have trouble having anyone held liable.
