wrong social security number on student loan

i am told I did not properly unenroll,when i thought i did. i did attend this school on pel grant only for 3 weeks. after 18 years of never contacting me and 5,000 dollars in intestest and penalties.now calling my home and threating to garnish wages. i made number of requests to have copy of original contract because bill they sent me has wrong number S.S.I number on it I finally receive copy of original contract, and again wrong S.S.I number. now they want a copy of S.S.I number so the typo as they stated can be corrected.

I am a little unclear about what the problem is. If you had a Pell Grant, then the grant should not require payback. If it was a student loan, and it was indeed 18 years ago, then the statute of limitations would have run (provided you have not made payments in the interim).

It sounds like you need to contact an attorney right away to avoid putting yourself in a bad situation.
