Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Missouri

Copyright laws concerning literary works.

I joined a member site and received "resell and reprint rights" to a number of written text.

Some of these are works by known authors like

The Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum and my question is

do I have the right to add content (pics, sounds)to make this story a digital e-book and sell it for a profit?

Thank You

Jan

Possibly. Sorry, but this answer is going to be as vague as they come. However, it would be difficult to answer your question without reviewing your contract with your member group and the member groups contract with the publisher/author. You should contact an Attorney to review the above-mentioned documents to get a solid answer to your question.

You may be able to do that if the work is in the public domain. The Library of Congress will conduct a search of its records by the title of a work, an author's

name, or a claimant's name. The search fee is $65 per hour. You may also search the records in person without paying a fee.
