Legal Question in Employment Law in Missouri
defamation of character
I recently resigned from a company to accept a position with another company. My former employer has now told my new employer that I stole from the former company. My former employer has also told my new employer other lies about me. I still have the new job, but it places a black mark on my name. Is this grounds for defamation of character?

Re: defamation of character
If the statements by your former employer are false, and cast you in a negative light, you may have a viable claim against them. You should consult personally with an experienced employment law attorney. The variables in these types of cases are too numerous to explain in this limited forum.
