employer breach of implied contract

My husband was offered promotion and accepted. Has already been given a company truck. Has been waiting for written contract. Spoke with employer today 12-03-05 regarding contract. Was told that they were still looking and that he 'may' still be getting the job. We already told everyone and excited about the prospect of $25,000.00 increase/year salary and other benefits. My husband assumed it was a done deal and was just awaiting contract to sign. Our family is devastated at this news. Do we have any legal rights?

It appears that your husband has sufferend no loss or injury. If he had turned down another position somewhere else, in reliance upon a written employmnet agreement with the current employer, he might have some recourse. However, it appears that he is an at will employee until then.
