Legal Question in Employment Law in Missouri
Future Military Career and Employment
Is a ''future military career'' a legitimate reason to turn down an employment candidate? This isn't a question of Reserve Status, currently in the Military, or former military. It's question of a candidates intentions to pursue a military career within a year or two. Would this be fair reason for a company to not make a job offer based upon their career interests not including working for the company?

Re: Future Military Career and Employment
In Missouri, an employer can hire and fire for any reason, or none at all, so long as they don't fire for a "prohibited" reason, i.e. some sort of status that is protected like sex or race. While you may have some protection if you are currently in the military, you have none if you may have intentions of a military career in the future. More to the point, no employer can be compelled to hire someone with the foreknowledge that the employee may well be leaving after they are trained.
