Legal Question in Employment Law in Missouri
mexican travel on the job
i am a service technician. I travel every week all over the us, canada and mexico. I recently traveled to mexico city for the company I work for. I arrived on monday. the company sent me from mexico city to Ft lauderdale on wednesday morning. I started getting diarhea wed afternoon. by thursday morning i was deathly ill..i barely made it to the taxi for the hospital. I was diagnosed with a bacterial infection or virus in my colon caused by something I ate or drank in mexico.
I missed two days of work, thurs, friday because I was so ill the doctors admitted me into the hospital. does the company have a legal obligation to pay me for 8 hrs on thurs and friday????? can I file for workers compensation???
what are some of my options?? I lost a lot of pay due to overtime missed because of the 16 hrs....please let me know...thanks

If you were hired in Missouri, I would suggest that you file a workers compensation claim. Depending on the employer's policies, you may also have a claim for sick leave, etc. Without knowing further details, I suspect that workers compensation may be the best route to obtain appropriate benefits.
