rights of farm workers
my 19 yr old son works for cash on a local farm. he severed his thumb. our personal insurance covered all costs. the farm owner said he would make it right but has done nothing. What is the farm owners legal responsibility?

Your son either is eligible for work comp compensation or not. If he is, then he needs to make a claim with the Department of Labor, worker's compnsation Division office in his area. If he is not eligible for work comp under the facts of this arrangement, he needs to file suit in the circuit court. If he tells the farmer the two options he is contemplating, it might force the farmer to make good on his promise. There is only limted time in which to make a work comp claim, or to bring a civil law suit, so he needs to get on this quickly
