Legal Question in Employment Law in Missouri

Temination for refusal to sign contract.

Hey,

I work at a fast food restaraunt and they recently have changed some rules one of which saying if your drawer is short that you have to pay it out of your own pocket. Now I have been employed there almost two years now if i refuse to sign this document are they within their legal right to fire me?

Also in the state of Missouri can a business hold withhold your paycheck from you for hours already worked for any reason?

Thank you,

Nathan

Re: Temination for refusal to sign contract.

Many restaurants implement this type of contract. They almost never come from the District or Corporate offices. Missouri is a right to work and at-will employment state. That means that the restaurant can fire a person for not signing this agreement in most situations and that person does not owe the company any notice if they choose to quit. {Two weeks notice is a custom, and can backfire on companies who give bad reference to former employees who leave wiht little or no notice.)

Your question as to holding yoru check was unclear. I am not sure what you are asking, by how you phrased your question.

Good Luck
