Legal Question in Employment Law in Missouri

I got in trouble tonight for using the restroom. The boss said we are only allowed to use the bathroom on our break time, I see this as a health risk. Can I be punished/fired for answering nature's call?

Hi. I am a Missouri attorney that handles issues in the area of employment law. This type of action could potentially be the basis of an EEOC claim or a violation of OSHA laws. In other words, an employer cannot legally prohibit employees from using the restroom.

In order to provide an accurate assessment, additional detail would be necessary. Was this a one-time occurrence, or does it happen routinely? Also, does it appear to be a company policy, or is it just the practice of a particular boss? Furthermore, is there anything in writing, such as in a company manual or guidebook, that deals with this issue?

If this is a company policy, there could be legal liability.

For your convenience, I can be reached via e-mail at [email protected]. Thank you.
