Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri
30 day notive policy
I am on a month to month lease. We are planning to move out on the 14th of April. My question is the landlord says that I have to pay the full month of April and that it will not be prorated. Is this correct?
And what if we moved out at the end of our lease on the 31st of March. They also informed me that we would be resposible for April still?

Re: 30 day notive policy
To answer yoru question, I am assunming your rental month begins on the first day of each month. If you gave notice of intent to terminate the lease by March 1st, you may leave by March 31st without owing future rent. If you are still there on April 1st, you owe for the month of April.
Absent a seperate agreement, or beginning day other thatn the 1st, there is no right to pay only a prorated share of a month on a month to month rental agreement.
You may look at the day of th emotnh that you moved in, and what you paid for the first month or portion thereof. If your month really startas on a day other than the 1st,it would change what is written above.
Good Luck
