Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri
I'm 13 days late on my rent they're charging me $50 late fee, $50 for a bounced check even though I told them I didn't have it they still went through with the automatic withdrawal, and $85 for concession. All of that is on the lease and I have no problem paying but now they say they took my account to an attorney and I'll have to pay at least $250 in legal fees. That isn't mentioned on my lease and I wasn't told about it until a few days ago. Is that legal and do I have to pay?

If legal fees are not listed in the written lease, many Missouri judges will not grant them at trial on a rent and possession case. They might in an unlawful detainer action. If you don't know the difference, you need to consult directly with a civil practice attorney in your area. Many offer a free or low cost initial consultation.
