Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri
eviction
in september 2005 i was late to pay my rent . i notified my landlord the property manager i would pay on the 22nd. on the 16th the manager sent me a nonrenewal letter to my lease. On the 20th i recieved summons to appear in court on the sep 29th. i paid my rent on the 22nd before the court date. Was i supposed to appear in court?. I paid my late fee and octomber rent on the 30th september. Then i was evicted on the 5th of octomber. They broke my file cabinet and put all my documets inside the dumpster along with my food from the fridge and family photos nd kitchen ware. the rest of the belongings were put around the dumpter. Was my belongings supposed to broken and treated that way?

Re: eviction
Yes, you should have gone to court. Your failure to do so is what allowed them to evict you.
No, they should not have thrown away your goods. But they probably did not have a duty to protect them either if you were given adequate notice of the eviction.
I doubt that you have a case against the landlord.
