Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri

I let a friend and her daughter stay I my apartment. They had their own room and brought their stuff in. At first it went really well. Money disappeared out of my partners wallet and a phone that was for emergencies went missing. After talking to the woman (her child was with the father) she said over text she would pay it back she only borrowed it. It was for our rent that HAD to be paid by 12 on Saturday. She never showed up. We changed the locks and filed a report with the cops. Sunday she shows up with the cops and drama ensued. She began moving her stuff out. My partner was struck by the woman and we have evidence of it. The woman claimed my partner hit her but had no physical proof. The cops decided that it was mutual and no charges were pressed. We notified the cops then that when we got home from paying our rent that her previously closed locked door was standing open and the front door was locked with no damage. In the room things we're obviously missing as well as her safe being busted open. We thought she had to have had someone come in while we we're gone. The cops documented everything and took pictures while she was here. Nothing of ours was missing or damaged so we didn't report it. We told her and also have time/date stamped photos from when we got home. she has since filed an ex parte and not returned. We were told by cops that despite her not being on the lease or receiving mail here that she is still a resident and we would have to formally evict her. Is this true? What are our rights being the lease holders? We do not want her to return nor do we want anymore of our stuff disappearing.
