can a landlord garnish your wages for past due rent??
i was threatened by a landlord he stated that he was going to talk to my employer and garnish my wages is that possible

Not without a judgment for rent and possession. A landlord can only garnish with a court order, and he has to take you to court to get it. That means a summons, a trial, and then a judgment before he gets his right to execute.
Although your landlord may be bluffing at this point, it is a good idea to pay any back rent as soon as possible since you don't want to be evicted.
