can my landlord increase my rent on March 1, 2015 if I have a lease that is not up until the end of May just by notifying me by email on Feb 19,2015.

Unless the lease agreement contains a clause allowing for changes on short notice, the amount of tent that is listed on the agreement remains the amount owed until the end of the lease period.
