Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri
My landlord(s)) filed a suit against me for rent and possession. I made a verbal agreement with them before the court date, gave them partial payment with the agreement that we would discuss and determine the actual amount I owe them (as they acknowledged that their numbers were wrong on the court documents), come up with a payment plan and, most importantly, we would sign a new lease and I would continue living in the apartment. They called their attorney, who got a continuance for one week. They said this is so a document can to be filed that prevents them from having to go through this whole process again if I should default again. My question is, does this document have a title and what should I expect at the next hearing? I would feel better if I knew what the document is called (and/or commonly referred to) so I know what they told me is what is actually taking place.
Note: I've lived there for 8 years and been a good tenant, but had some recent health problems, and believe they would rather have me stay than have another vacancy. But I still want to proceed with caution.

It sound sliek they may be talking about a stipulation for judgment. That is, that you agree that tjhey can taekl judmgetn agaisnt you and have you evicted, without going back to court, in exchange for taking payments from you on the overdue rent. You should ask to read any document the other side wants to file with the court, prior to agreeing with it.
Good luck
