Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri
I live with another woman in a 2 bedroom apartment, and we both are on the lease agreement. Couple of months ago, my roommate decided to bring her 2 year old son and mother to stay with her in our apartment. Ever since, I am being treated as if I dont belong there, and issues are made out of small things. They keep the apartment temperature at 80 F and when I asked to lower it down to more reasonable level, they flatly refused. I was once even threatened by my roommate that she would call the cops and complain that I am asking or doing things that aren't good for her son's health. I have been asked multiple times to leave the apartment by her and her mother. They are pressurizing me by making issues out of anything I do, like even my cooking in my apartment. I tried to sort things out by talking to them but they don't seem to care to listen to what I have to say. How do I protect myself from false accusations, and save myself from this mental stress that I am dealing each day?

Assuming their occupancy violates the lease, you can sue to evict the mother and son, as they are not on the lease. You also could ask your landlord to intervene. If you decide to evict them, you must file a petition in the Circuit Court stating your grounds for the eviction - namely, that they are basically squatting in your apartment. Alternatively, you can try to sublet the apartment and move out.
