Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri

i lost my house and my job at the same time. i moved in with someone i went to school with and he told me that i didn't have to pay rent until i got a job and then when i get a job i will pay $250/month and then once i am back on my feet then $300/month. I ended up selling alot of things in my house and gave him $750 which would be 3 months rent IF i had a job and said to hang on to it until i get a job and then once i have a job that will be my rent for 3 months. i still don't have a job and he told me yesterday that starting in august he is raising my rent to $325/month and using the $750 towards the last 3 months which was not our verbal agreement. I want to tell him that he can use my $750 towards august, september and october rent and then I will go ahead and give him $50 extra a month to = the $300 even though I still don't have a job and I am still not back on my feet and if he would like for me to move out then he can give me the $750 back. I am also on unemployment and his car has been in the shop for the last month so he has been using my car and has not gave me anything for using it or putting miles on it while i am paying for the insurance and the car note. He has also made me watch his son on several occasions and not paid me or gave me anything for watching him. When he told me yesterday that he is not sticking to his verbal agreement and there is no negotiations i told him to find rides to and from work from now on and leave my extra car key on the kitchen table and he said leave the house key on the kitchen table and move out. He put haha after that so I didn't know how to take that. What can I do? I would like to get a letter I type notorized and mail it to him but I feel that I don't owe him rent starting in August because of our verbal agreement and he can't kick me out because I am paid for 3 months. I know when I had roommates in my home that I owned the police told me that a verbal agreement is the same as a written agreement.

He has allowed you to stay, so he will have to sue to evict youm if you choose not to leave voluntarily.

As to the money you paidm jt is not as clear. If you move out in July, he would probably not be able to sue you for August`s rent, If you sue to get the $750 back, you might not win, as you psid it before you got a job, which is contrary to the deal as you described it

There appears to be nothing that requires you to let him use your car while you're paying rent. He can state what rebt he will accept for rent for August forward, You can either agree to stay and pay it, or move out by end if July, owing nothing, It seems unlikely that you never would havr agreed to stay rentfree for a while, if he had the power to charge higher rent in the future.

Good luck
