Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri

I am on a month to month. On November 9th I told my landlord that I would be moving out as of November 30th. She told me that wasn't 30 days notice and that I would have to pay for the first 9 days of December. the people that manage her property whom I have never seen or spoken to sent me a letter saying that I was responsible for the rent until the end of December. I don't have a problem paying for the 9 days in December but I don't think that I should be held responsible for paying another full months rent when on the 9th of December will be the 30 days. What is the law about this?

If rent is due on the first of the month, then your notice was effective as of December 1st. Tha means you owe until December 31st. You should have jumped on the opportunity to pay only nine days of December. Sorry. but, if rent is due on the 10th of the month (not just teh date a late fine is imposed) then your notice was effective as of November 10th, and you only owe through December 9th.

Good luck
