Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri
My son lives in off campus housing. My name is on the lease. Apparently his parking pass expired December 31st. His car was towed on January 1st. He was told that emails went out in Aug. and Sept. Reminding everyone to renew passes. There is a standing joke in our house because I also receive every email that he receives and then I forward them to him. He essentially receives two emails. We never received any emails. His lease also states that he is to be given 12 hours notice before being towed. We never received any notice. I think he needs his $200 refunded for the towing. Do we have any recourse?

A 12 hour notice could be a note on the windshield or the apartment door. If he was home for the break, he may have missed it. As for the emails, unless the agreement says that emails are a prerequisite to the need to renew a parkung permit, nit getting one probably doesn't excuse nit renewing. You might have your child take his lease and parkung agreements to a civil practice attorney, in his area, to see if he has a basis for getting reimbursed the $200 you kentioned.
Good luck
