Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri
I am being sued by my previous landlord for breaking my contract because I left 6 months early. I did find a replacement tenant before I left, which was the condition for voiding the contract. We did not void the contract in writing (mistake on my part), however, shouldn't my lease have automatically been voided when my landlord signed another lease with the replacement tenant I found?

If the lessor accepted teh new tenant as anew tenant, they cannot get rent twice. However, if the new person was merely your subtenant, then you may remainder liable for the rent for the remainder of your lease period. If they returne dyrou security deposit to you or gave you notice that you wre forfeiting it due to eh replacement of the new tenant, that fact weighs agaisnt the new person being yrou subtenant and for them being a replacement for your leasehold. Have your attorney ( or you if Pro Se) request copies of the rental payments from the new tenant as well as a monthly accounting of the rent payments for that six month period.
