Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Missouri
city road restrictions
We own a business inside of city limits. Recently they adopted new guidlines for truck routes and put a weight limit on the road our building is on. Our excavation equipement exceeds these limits. They have told us we can no longer use the route we were using to exit with our over the road tractor/trailer. Due to narrow roads, traffic and the length of our tractor/trailer, it is nearly impossible to exit the only other way out. The truck is within legal legth limits. If any traffic is in the vicinity, it is impossible to manuveur to make the turn. this situation arose the other day and the truck had to sit in the middle of the intersection blocking all traffic unitl the cars blocking the way could all be backed up. This is a saftey problem and a liability waiting to happen. The city has refused to allow a permit for exiting the way we always did. This has hindered our progress and has made for a difficult situation. With the weight limit and truck route, we have limited resale usage of the building.. Any recourse?

I'm not a MO attorney, but I bet you have a claim for inverse condemnation and your damages are probably the cost of changing your property so you can comply with the new law. Get a condemnation attorney now.
