Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Missouri
Any way to make the OBGYN I had take responsibilty for her lack of action.
Right now I am dealing with the loss of my twins. At the time this happened I was 5 1/2 months along. I called her office on 9-16-97 saying I was bleeding, her secetary told me to go to L&D in the hospital (the doctor was in the background) telling her what to tell me. I did go to L&D at the hospital and since I was 5 1/2 months with twins, I thought she would have showed up. I was there over 3 hours before they moved me by helicopter to a different hospital and she never showed up and didn't hear from her till I called her to cancel an appointment that was made before all this started. Her attitude was really negative all the way. She never really did explain to it to me and I still don't no what it means (HIGH RISK).

Medical Malpractice
I understand that what has happened to you is recent and fresh in your mind. If you want to pursue a medical malpractice claim against the doctor then you should contact a good attorney right away.
It is possible that somebody's inaction may have caused what happened to you. There are certainly precaustions that can be taken to reduce risk in certain medical situations. I don't mean to sound repetitive, but you should talk to a lawyer who knows something about medical malpractice and tell them all of the facts. We have a case similar to yours and we were not able to give a good opinion on the case until we had spoken with the mother and reviewed the medical records closely. I suggest that you call someone.
Dealing with loss of twins
First, my condolences on your loss. A case like thiscan be very complicated and you should contacta qualified medical malpractice lawyer in your state. You will have to prove that (1) there was a course of carethat should have been carried out that (2) more likelythan now would have led to a prolonged gestation which would have given the twins a better chance to survive. The problem in these cases is that something was goingon which was causing you body to bleed and to startto end the pregnancy. Five and 1/2 months is a long time and I am betting thatthere is something that could have been done but theanswer to the question is going to lie in the medical records and pathology reports.
