Re: awol

(1) You would be caught.

(2) You would be returned to military control.

(3) You would face charges for AWOL; unless

(4) You were dumb enough to stay gone for longer than 30 days, in which case when you were caught you'd face charges for desertion.

(5) You'd either get a court martial or article 15.

(6) You could lose rank, screw up your chances for promotion later on, and pay half of your pay back to the government for 3 to 6 months.

There is nothing that justifies AWOL. The military cannot let you or anyone else get away with it, or order and discipline break down.

I made the mistake of going AWOL when I was in the army, and it was the stupidest thing I ever did. I wound up surrendering to military control after 5 days. It was a dumb thing to do, and it kept me from achieving rank later on.

Don't do it. You'll regret it.
