Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri
I was in a automoble accident about six months ago. I was a passenger in a truck that was hit from the rear. I was taken from the scene by ambulance on a back board with a neck support. I did not loose concisness. I had a cat. scan at the hospital. It showed I had a mild concustion, my face and head was swollen, I had a black eye for a week or so, and had headaches and it took a couple of weeks to get over the concustuon. My neck was injured and I went to phisical therapy for a month or so. Over all I have recovered well, I still have a little trouble with my neck. I have accured about $7500.00 in medical bills. Through all this I have not heard from the insurace that was resposible at all.The only contact I have had is when I called them about three times. My question is what should I do about setteling and what can I expect to get.

It is difficult to address all of your questions via this post; however, you do appear to have a claim for your injuries. I would be glad to discuss it with you further. You can reach our office at 417-887-3010 or 800-887-4030, or via email at [email protected]
If you haven't heard from the other insurance company, that should tell you something about the way they do business! As the passenger, you shouldn't be at fault in this case, and one of the companies should be contacting you.
Insurance companies have professionals handling cases. Delay is on their side- you could disappear or have another injury, and the chances go up the longer they wait. More importantly, few folks are professional victims and prepared to present their case to an insurance company to get a fair settlement without an attorney.
As for what you expect to get, that is a difficult question. Without knowing the extent of your injuries, it is almost impossible for a lawyer to advise you on the value of your case. My office and many others will talk with you about your case without cost or obligation. Studies show that most victims get 4-5 times more of their damages than those without lawyers.
We have a video on handling your own claim at The Injury Law News website, and are happy to discuss your case if you have other questions.
