Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri
Personal Medical to pay medical bills in settlement
I have been in an auto accident that
was a 4 car pile up. we were 3rd in
line. The first people to get hit. The
accident has been deemed the fault
from the person behind us. Only soft
tissue damage for me. Treated and
released for me after 4 months -
$8,500 bill. The girl in our car had
only $1,000 coverage for medical for
her passengers each. They have paid
this to my medical bill. The person
who hit us offered me $10,500 for
pain and suffering from the party at
fault. I have personal health
insurance - Blue Cross/Blue Shield
that I pay every month. Will my
medical coverage pay my medical bill
of $8,500 if I accept the $10,500
from the party at fault? Is the
$10,500 a fair amount for pain and
suffering with just soft tissue
damage?
Personal Injury:
I had neck and lower back pain that
was treated and released by the
chiropractor.

Re: Personal Medical to pay medical bills in settlement
The settlement offer sounds low, but it is impossible to say without seeing your treatment records and speaking with you. Few health insurers are entitled to reimbursement in Missouri, but SOME are, and an attorney should review the policy for you.
You should speak to a trial attorney who represents injury victims. I would be happy to review your case, without charge. If the settlement offer is a good one, I will tell you. If I think you are entitled to more money, I will tell you that too, whether you choose to hire my firm or not.
