Legal Question in Personal Injury in Missouri

i was recently in a finder bender car accident. The other car driver spoke to his insurance agency regarding the accident. This agency contacted me wanting a statement about the accident. This insurance company does not want to accept a police report. My question is should i feel comfortable dicusssing the accident with his insurance agency. Isn't the police report sufficient?
