Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

I asked the water company to shut off the water at my house because I was not able to do it myself (away) plus I no longer wanted water service. They said they would (and always have in the past) when I got back a few weeks later, I checked on the house, and the pipes had burst and water was spraying everywhere, dripping from the ceilings in every room, huge bubble of ice formed out the back of the house, the hardwood floor is destroyed, the furnace nor water heater will light (yes the gas is still on). I checked with the water company, they said the service tech said he shut it off. They sent another out, and he did shut it off. They called it in to their insurance company, and their insurance company said the water company said it was my job to ensure they turned it off so they weren't paying. If that were the case, why did they call it in to their insurance company? Is there anyone out here that can help me? (not really sure what area of law this belongs in)

You need to consult directly with a civil practice attorney in your area. Try to find one that does plaintiffs personal injury and/or property damage claims.
