Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

breaking a lease process...

First question asked was, is the rental within a certain school district. We were told yes. We then called the school with the addy, and told yes. Also the bus Co. said yes. 2 months into lease, was told we had to withdraw children or move back into the district( 40 ft.) approx.

I have the previous bussing map, and map used by complex Mgr. There is a new map now with boundary changed. I fought to finish out remainder of last year, but school begins in Aug. In order to move there will be3-4 months remianing on lease. Just needing to know steps to take, and how to be prepared after I inform complex of my intentions.

Re: breaking a lease process...

First of all the terms of your lease may contain the process, or lack thereof, for terminating the lease early. You should at least have an attorney review for the details on this. Second, make sure you give any and all 'notice' in a written document, and request signature of LL on any agreements regaring early termination and settlement. Be prepared to foot the bill for some lost rent to please the LL. If you intend to push the school district misinformation, be prepared to litigate.
