In general, "Title" means control or ownership of property. i.e. "That person has title to that home." Think of it as the person is enTITLEd to do what they want with the property, becuase it is theirs.

A "Deed" is a document that transfers title from one person to another. They are often "Joe Blow hereby transfer title to XYZ farm Joe Blow to Jane Doe" You could say that Jane now has title to XYZ because she got a deed from Joe.

Since most states issue a document that shows ownership to an automobile that they call a title, it often confuses people when they have to think of that same word "title" in respect to real property. You will probaly never see a "title" to a home. You won't see a seperate Deed for a car, since the transfer can be done on the back of a Missouri Title. But, that back part acts like a Deed, while the front shows who has title to that vehicle.

I hope this has not confused you more.

Good luck
