Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

Easement

I purchased a piece of property that has a easement on it. For ovr 15 years the easement has grown up (BIG TREES) I cleaned it off and have been maintaining the upkeep for three years on it now. The people who own the easement showed up after all this time demanding that we move a vehicle that is on it. They have access to their land from another road now and like I said have not used or maintained this one for 15 years. Can I file Quit Claim or anything to get this property back or should I just not move my stuff?

Re: Easement

It is possible for the owner of an easement to abandon the easement, and it is possible that the need for the easement no longer exists. I would have to research the law to be able to give anyone advice about a particular situation such as yours. I can tell you that no "Quit Claim Deed " will solve the problem. I am confident that there is a solution, and perhaps someone else will post a more helpful response. You should obtain a legal opinion and advice on your rights as soon as possible to avoid running into legal problems with the owners of the easement. Good luck.
