Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri
Emergency Call
I live in MO. The lease agreement reads at the time of locked out after hours call the emergency number provided, they will unlock the door for $25. On Saturday 6pm I was lacked out in my porch without phone. I got some passengers to lend me their phone and I called the emergency call but he said if he comes the cost is $800 but he has no concern to come and unlock me and has no concern if I have medical situation or dehydrated. I was locked out in my porch for 5 hours in hot weather. I called the emergency call 2 more times and he said call a locksmith and I have no number of them and no concern! I was in the porch for 5 hours and bitten by mosquitoes until 11 pm sombody called locksmith for me. This is violation of the lease agreement, human cruelty, job negligence. How can I trust these people again at the time of emergency? The manager refuses to give the headquarter address in NY and she does not respond my letters in writing. What should I do?

Re: Emergency Call
You need to collect the names and numbers of those people who saw you on the porch. Especially the ones who let you use their telephone to call the emergency number. Make a copy of your written lease and any rules or regulations. After you have these things, you should contact an attorney directly. Using this information, they can determine whether you have a plausible civil lawsuit. With the information you have given thus far, there is not enough for me to tell you whether you have a good case or not.
In the mean time, don't go out after hours without a key and a telephone.
Good Luck,
