Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri
My father has a farm in Missouri on which there is a small air strip and hanger that was built by a friend of his many years ago with the understanding that the friend could use the strip and store his airplane there. The friend has since passed away but there is another party (unrelated to the friend) that has kept his plane there and used the strip for the past several years. There has never been a written lease or agreement of any type. Does this current plane owner have any kind of claim to the land such as a squatter's right that would interfere with the sale of this land by my father?

Your question begs too many details to be answerable in the negative at this time. The plane owner might have a claim of an easement to use the land. Your father might be able to evict him or force him to pay rent. he ( and possible a purchaser of the land) might have to let this flyer go on using the hnger and strip) You might consider consulting direclty with an atotrney int ehrea where the land is to evaluate the case after having access to all the information. The length of time that the plane owner has been using the land is important.
