Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri
I live in Columbia, Mo 65201 and I recently moved out of my apartment. My lease expired on July 31st, 2009 and I received a notice saying that I would be receiving a little over $600 back from my deposit. They also said in the mailing though, that it would be 6 weeks and they would be sending me my deposit back in monthly installments. I logged onto the Missouri Att. Gen. and the law had stated the landlord has 30 days to get the deposit back to the tennant or the tennant had the option of suing the landlord for up to double of what is rightfully deserved. Is what they're doing within the rules or do I have just cause to recoop my deposit in court?
