Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Missouri

i have been living in a sober living house since november, yesterday when i came home from work i was asked to leave and told i could not retrieve any of my personal belongings. when i moved in i signed a contract with them to pay $400 a month for rent and i owe them money. are they alowed to keep all of my belongings because i owe them rent?

Leasors are not allowed to hold personal belongings to cover disputed debts. Have the police escort you to retrieve your items.
