getting the mortgage in my name soley

my wife and i are getting a divorce, and the only hangup we have is with the house. what we would both like is for her to be released from the mortgage contract, so that i will become the sole name on the contract, and therefore have full financial responsibility of the home. will the mortgage company allow this to happen provided there is a change of status? of this something that happens commonly? and because only one person will be responsible for the mortgage, will they willingly allow me to take responsibility because of this divorce?

If you are going through a divorce then you should have an attorney, and your own attorney should advise you on this issue. If you do not have an attorney, you should hire one. It really is that simple!
